She earned the “Turn Around Award” for her excellent growth and effort in academics, particularly math. Each year Goshen Community Schools selects one student from each elementary that has shown growth in either academics or behavior.

GOTR is a nationwide program that features a 10-week curriculum focusing on health, proper eating habits, leadership and building community. The program, which started in 1996, currently has over 130,000 participants nationwide. For more information on Chamberlain’s “Girls on the Run” program, contact Counselor and Head Coach Kelly Johnson.

Students were able to “walk” throughout the whole museum, exploring the ocean, ancient Egypt and more. The virtual field trip allows the students to get up close to all of the exhibits, and read the information plaques in high detail as if they were really there. As one student put, “I’m glad this lion can’t come through the computer!”

This is virtual field trip is a part of expanded computer lab times for 4th and 5th grade classes. Students are making use of this time to learn how to type as well as visit websites that compliment what they are learning about in their classrooms. A number of local organizations and individuals donated approximately 400 winter hats to Chamberlain students, ensuring that no student had cold ears during the cold winter months. From hand-knitted to warm fleece, bags full of hats were given to each classroom and students were given the opportunity to choose their own hat to keep. The Chamberlain community would like to say thank you to everyone that took the time to collect, create and bring in these hats – they are a special gift to our children!
